Medically the lumbar region L1 to L5 (below the ribcage) is called low back area. Every one irrespective of their age and gender will complain of low back pain in their lifetime.
 

The condition is usually not dangerous and it often gets cured on its own without any intervention. In some cases doctors intervention is a must where you may be not able to recover yourself in such conditions like low back pain with fever, bowel or bladder control problem and feel  pain when you cough or peeing.
